A college celebrated being ranked the top further education college in London.

Barnet and Southgate College has been ranked the number one further education college in London in independent researched commissioned by FE Week.

The team celebrated its ranking at its annual student achievement awards at Allianz Park, which was attending by alumni, parents, staff, students and special guest Lord Levy.

Katie Alice Constant, 20, from Potters Bar who won top achieving student at the awards, said: "I’ll always appreciate the friends I made at Barnet and Southgate College, it was a tough time and I had to overcome significant obstacles to finish my A levels as I had to support myself, but my hard work paid off as I achieved my ultimate goal by gaining a place at Cambridge University to study English Literature.

"I’m joining Wolfson College and I start in September 2018 and can’t wait.

"I've always loved English and thought I'd have a go with the Oxbridge exams, I fell in love with the course and it’s such a prestigious place, at the time it seemed liked an unobtainable dream, but I did it and I’m really proud of myself."

This year's NICDEX league table gave 202 colleges a score of up to 40, which included Barnet and Southgate College.
