A man who stabbed a 93-year-old man twice in a park has admitted causing grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.
Ryan Hewitt, 20, stabbed his victim whilst he was sitting on a park bench in an unprovoked attack in Oakmere Park, Potters Bar in July.
Hewitt, of Carpenter Way, Potters Bar, stabbed the 93-year-old twice in his back.
He pleaded guilty at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday.
Detective Constable Robert Wood from the Hertsmere Local Crime Unit said: “The victim, who was waiting to meet his grandson to walk the dog, initially thought he’d been punched. He was treated in hospital for his injuries and has since been discharged but continues to live with the trauma of what happened to him.”
Hewitt will be sentenced on February 15.
