A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was killed in a stabbing on a residential street.
Emergency crews were called to Norfolk Road, in Seven Kings, at around 7.10pm on Wednesday evening after after reports of an unresponsive woman lying in the street.
Met Police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics attended the incident and found a 44-year-old woman suffering from serious stab injuries.
She was pronounced dead minutes after first responders reached the scene.
Next of kin have been notified but formal identification awaits. A post-mortem examination has yet to be carried out.
A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the killing by detectives at an address in Newham in the early hours of Thursday morning.
He was taken to an east London police station where he remains in custody.
Detectives from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command continue to investigate the death.
