A woman with diabetes is swimming the equivalent of the English Channel to raise money for charity.

Jane Pack, 54, from Potters Bar, is taking part in swimming challenge Swim22, to raise money for Diabetes UK.

Ms Pack has Type 2 diabetes and is determined to come off all her medication by getting fitter and losing weight.

She had gastric bypass surgery in April last year and has already shed nearly 6st, dropping from size 24 to size 16/18, and no longer has to inject herself with insulin.

Ms Pack said: "I’ve always loved swimming and I wanted to challenge myself and do something to help raise money for Diabetes UK.

"I’ve been training for about a month now and am really enjoying it, but it is tough."

The challenge is for people to swim 22 miles, the length of the English Channel, and can be completed between February 22 and May 22.
