A post office may be moving to create a new branch.

North Finchley Post Office is potentially moving to vacant retail premises in 831 High Road, North Finchley and be run by a private company.

The proposal would include a refurbishment of the premises and new frontage, automatic door and retail offerings of stationery, greeting cards and gifts.

There would be seven counters, including low-level counters, hearing loops and customer seating.

All current services in the premises at 751 High Road would be available in the new shop, except the Home Office's Biometric Enrolment Service.

Roger Gale, Post Offices’ network and sales director, said: "We are making sure we take the right action to sustain services for years to come.

"The vast majority of our 11,600 Post Office branches, large and small, are successfully operated with retail partners – this is the best approach to keeping branches in main shopping locations and at the heart of communities."

A consultation is open for customers to give their views on this, and feedback is being requested for issues such as location, accessibility or community issues.

The consultation ends on February 21 and the proposed moving date would be April 2018.
