A jungle-themed "secret cinema" raised £4,500 for care services for the elderly.

Around 150 young families attended a jungle-themed screening of The Lion King to raise funds for Jewish Care at the Wyllyotts Centre in Potters Bar.

The little lions and elephants were dresses in jungle outfits and took part in bush tucker games and face painting, before hopping into the Pride Rock photo booth.

Richard and Shiri Seymour, who were joined at the interactive screening by their children, Henry, aged six and Emily, aged four, said: "We really enjoyed this event, so much went into making it a fun afternoon and we’ve all had a great time. The kids loved the face painting and glitter tattoos."

Katie Lipton, chairman of the Jewish Care juniors committee, said the group is trying to grow and offer more events for young families.

She said: "I’d like to thank everyone who came along to make it such a success. The money we have raised will help support older people in our community who rely on Jewish Care’s services.

"If you have great ideas and would like to get involved please do contact Jewish Care."
