Primary school children helped celebrate as a supermarket opened its 1000th food bank.
Children from Year Three at Pope Paul Catholic School in Potters Bar, helped celebrate as Sainsbury's announced its 1000th food bank donation point.
The children donated food at the Potters Bar store, then joined staff to celebrate the landmark achievement before learning more about the importance of helping others.
Donna Pringle, the Year 3 class teacher said “At Pope Paul we encourage our children to be aware of the needs of others.
"It was wonderful to be able to contribute to the Sainsbury's Foodbank and for the children to individually place their donations in the trolley knowing that they will be gratefully received."
Products from the donation point are collected by volunteers at the Foodbank charity and redistributed to people in the area who are in need.
