A theatre and arts centre has won an award for its contribution to arts for older people.

artsdepot in North Finchley won the Best Age-Friendly Welcome award for its contribution to arts and culture for older people throughout 2017, and was shortlisted for Best Family Venue award.

The awards, called the Fantastic for Families awards, come from the Family Arts campaign which seeks to engage and inspire arts organisations in family activities for all ages.

Tracy Cooper, chief executive of artsdepot, said: "We are absolutely delighted that our age-friendly programming is being recognised by Fantastic for Families, and we are proud to stand amongst these leading venues and organisations.

"Last year, we welcomed 154,000 people to artsdepot and it is important to us that our wide range of activities and public spaces is open and accessible to all ages."

Events for older people include theatre matinees, interactive performances, and the launch of hot lunches for socially isolated older people, as well as a dance group for over 60s.
