A community garden was trampled on and ruined as workers put up a billboard on the side of a train station.

Cricklewood Station’s community garden planted by the Cricklewood Residents Association was left damaged by Primesight billboard, it is claimed.

The works on March 12 left noticeable damage to the garden and the willow fence enclosure.

Chairwoman of the residents association, Anne Clarke, noticed the damage shortly after on her way to work.

She said: “The lovely garden at Cricklewood Station transformed it from being grotty to a real pride of place.”

“We don’t have a lot of nice things in Cricklewood but the station is one of them.”

The community garden won the award for best community station on the Great Northern and Thameslink routes after neighbours came together to improve the station for the community.

The works on the billboard has since led to damage of the irrigation system, a significant number of flowers and a scaffold has damaged the willow fencing for the garden.

Ms Clarke said: “The station is of real interest to people in Cricklewood, people really like the transformation and the work of the Cricklewood Town Team. No one wants to see the station get run down again.”

Primesight has refused to comment at this time.
