An unexploded bomb has been discovered on a building site.
Emergency services were called at around 2pm on June 19 after reports a suspected World War Two device was found in Rowan Drive in Hendon.
The British Army were called in to assess the unexploded bomb and the decision was taken to perform a controlled explosion today at around 12pm.
Police said the structure containing the device will be filled with sand and other explosives will be arranged prior to detonation.
An 86metre cordon will be set up and the building site and local school, North London Grammar School, will be closed all day.
Police also said train lines close by will not run during the explosion time because the “ground shake” may affect the tracks. Network Rail are on the scene and are expected to conduct an inspection immediately after the explosion.
Police said: “There is likely to be a small ground quake felt in a 100metre radius of the site. Noise will be limited and it is unlikely to cause disruption.”
No roads will be closed.
