An MP has cut the ribbon, officially opening a newly refurbished bank branch.

After a redesign, MP for Finchley and Golders Green Mike Freer launched the new Barclays Temple Fortune branch in Finchley Road.

Dating back to 1937, the bank's old design was swapped for a new bright banking hall and a mix of self–service machines.

Jamie Pooley branch manager said: “I’m proud that Temple Fortune has been chosen to have this major refurbishment, it’s a big investment in the town and a vote of confidence in the area.

"We have been getting very positive comments from customers about it, and it was a pleasure to welcome Mike Freer MP to the branch and to show him the improvements we have made."

Before becoming a politician, Mr Freer worked for Barclays.

He said: “Having worked for Barclays in my life before politics, it was great to be back as a guest at this reopening ceremony.

"I know many local people and businesses rely on the services offered here, they will be very pleased with the refurbishment and investment that has gone into this historic branch.”
