Four robbers smashed their way into a house brandishing weapons and claiming to be the police.

Police received several calls at around 7.20pm on Friday, August 10 with reports of an aggravated burglary in Elmgate Gardens, Edgware.

Four suspects broke into the property through the front door, each carrying a weapon and announcing they were the police.

They threatened the victims and when another person arrived they sprayed an unknown substance in their face, punched and kicked him before putting him upstairs with the others.

The suspects searched the property before fleeing in a vehicle they had reversed onto the driveway.

The man who was sprayed with the substance and assaulted was taken to a north London hospital by the London Ambulance Service. His injuries are not life-threatening.

The suspects are described as black men wearing dark clothing. One suspect was wearing a hi-vis jacket.

Upon arrival police searched the area but no suspects were found.

Colindale detectives are investigating, no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
