Police have been investigating an area of land in a park after reports a body was found.
Officers were called to New Southgate Recreational Grand next to Oakleigh Road South today and a forensic tent was set up.
However, the body they found was actually that of a German Shephard dog that had been recently buried in a shallow grave that had become uncovered.
Enquiries are ongoing including checking a chip to find the identity of the owner. The dog did not have a collar.
Barnet Council is aware.
