A BARNET woman suffering from a life-threatening brain tumour launched a dating website to raise money for Brain Tumour UK this week.

Lisa Connell, 29, has been unable to work since she was diagnosed with the tumour last year. Instead she has dedicated her efforts to setting up a website called 'Rent a Date for Charity'.

The site has already attracted the attention of the national press and a number of celebrities.

Members of the public can place bids for someone they would like to take on a date, and whoever has bid the most money at the end of the week gets to wine and dine their partner of choice.

Each week there is a different celebrity auction, with this week's prize being supermodel Sophie Anderton.

The website began in July as a MySpace page with a handful of users, but has since grown into a successful business, with it's own website officially up and running this week.

Ms Connell, who is hopeful about its prospects, said: "I'm not religious at all, but I am a strong believer that this is what I've been born to do. I still can't believe that I've come this far."
