A Barnet Rabbi is to walk 100 miles with his dog to highlight the work of his synagogue next month.
Along the way, Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg and his dog Mitzpah will visit organisations and initiatives the New North London Synagogue, in East End Road, has links with, including a woodland being planted in Essex and the Royal Free hospital, in Hampstead.
He will also visit Parliament to discuss his hopes for peace in Israel and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.
Rabbi Wittenberg said: "It matters to me that there's physical effort and challenge involved in the walk.
"If people feel it's inappropriate to sponsor a rabbi, they can choose to sponsor the dog instead, although with his agility he's likely to do at least 300 miles to my century."
The money raised will go to the synagogue and some of the organisations and projects Rabbi Wittenberg visits along the way.
His first stop will be at the London Jewish Cultural Centre, in Golders Green, on March 8.
