Judge throws out Chase Farm challenge

A High Court judge has thrown out a legal challenge to the downgrading of Chase Farm Hospital.

Judge Geraldine Andrews QC rejected Enfield Council's bid for a judicial review yesterday, in part because the challenge had come too late.

The planned closure of Chase Farm's 24-hour A&E unit and reduction of maternity services should now go ahead as planned.

Barnet Hospital, in Wellhouse Lane, Barnet, will take up much of the slack after a massive injection of investment.
