A-level update: Barnet schools are top of the class

RECORD A-level results have helped five Barnet schools into the top-100 national league table.

Queen Elizabeth's School, in Queen's Road, achieved first place in the state schools list, based on the percentage of exam papers graded A and B.

The boys grammar school was closely followed by Henrietta Barnett School, in Central Square, Hampstead Garden Suburb, which took the number four spot.

An incredible 95.3 per cent of exams taken by students at Queen Elizabeth's gained the two top grades, compared to 92.4 per cent at Henrietta Barnett.

On their tails were St Michael's Catholic Grammar School, in Nether Street, Finchley, in 32nd place with 82.97 per cent, and Mill Hill County High School, in Worcester Crescent, in 62nd place with 74.66 per cent.

Hasmonean High School, in Holders Hill Road, Hendon, was 85th with 71.77 per cent.

Queen Elizabeth's School headteacher John Marincowitz said: "We are delighted with these wonderful results.

"These boys will go out into the world and really make a difference."

Barnet councillor Fiona Bulmer, cabinet member for children's services, said: "I warmly congratulate all Barnet pupils and their schools on another outstanding set of results.

"I know how hard they have worked and they can be very proud of their achievements."
