A BARNET cycling group has said they have not joined a coalition opposing the Brent Cross Cricklewood development, despite leaders of the co-operative claiming they had.
Peter Ride, a spokesman for Barnet Cyclists, said they had a “neutral” stance on the development, although they had urged developers to look more closely at cycling provision in the final plans.
It had previously been claimed the group were one of about 20 pressure and residents' associations to have joined forces to oppose the current plans.
Mr Ride added: “We're a cycling body, it's not our business to get involved in new developments.
“We don't want to knock people who are against it, but we're a cycling body and are neutral about the development.”
Lia Colacicco, a spokesman for the coalition, said the inclusion of Barnet Cyclists in the original list of member groups was a mistake, although sister group Brent Cyclists are part of the coalition.
The decision on whether to give the development the green light will be made by Barnet Council on Wednesday.
