SOCCER stars, singers and shakes were the order of the day at a celebrity cafe bar launch at the weekend.

Hundreds of screaming fans turned out for the official opening of Milkshake City in Woodhouse Road, Friern Barnet, on Sunday.

Aston Merrygold and Marvin Humes from boyband JLS appeared during the afternoon to literally add some X-factor to the event.

The pair were joined by Arsenal FC players Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Jack Wiltshire, while live music was provided by Kiss FM breakfast DJ Melvin Odoom.

Owner Yianni Charalambous, of Holders Hill Road, Mill Hill, said he was amazed the launch created such a stir.

“It was ridiculous, the whole road was blocked with people,” said the businessman, whose main venture involves providing customized cars to top footballers.

“I knew it was going to be busy but I didn't expect it would go as crazy as it did.

“It was amazing. People were cheering and we had to hold a lot of people back.”

Mr Charalambous now hopes to develop the Milkshake City name across the borough and wider afield.

“We are going global with the brand and our lawyers are sorting out the franchising,” he said.

“Because we have other businesses we have made our money which has allowed us to throw ourselves into this and not hold back on anything.

“We have a lead over other similar bars because we have the celebrities coming into our shops on a daily basis.”
