PLANNED maintenance work at a Finchley tube station is restricting access for disabled commuters and people using prams.

Engineers are carrying out repairs on the lift at Finchley Central, which means some people will have to find alternative routes to travel on the Northern Line.

The lift will be out of order for about a month, with work expected to finish by Wednesday, October 28.

Transport for London (TfL) have said there will be no step-free access between the platforms and the ticket hall at the station, off Regents Park Road.

Six of the thirteen Northern Line stations in the borough have disabled access, although the lift at Hendon Central is also undergoing repair work and will not be available until early October.

Golders Green, Edgware, Woodside Park and West Finchley all have working lifts.

TfL have advised mobility impaired customers and people with pushchairs or heavy luggage to “check before they travel” from the station.

They suggest commuters visit the TfL website for more travel advice, use the journey planner or call the travel information telephone line on 020 7222 1234 (24 hours) or customer services on 0845 330 9880 (8am – 8pm, 7 days).
