A LICENSED cab driver has been charged with possessing a knife which he kept stored in the glove box of his taxi.
The 36-year-old man from Poland, was arrested yesterday after being pulled over by police at about 2.45pm.
He was spotted on a traffic matter, believed to be speeding, in Hamilton Road, Golders Green.
Officers said he was unable to provide an explanation over the manner of his driving, which led them to carry out a search of his mini cab.
Inside they found a lockable knife stashed away in the glove box.
A police statement said the driver could not give “a reasonable explanation” for why he was carrying it.
He was arrested and charged with possession of a knife yesterday, and is due to appear at Hendon Magistrates Court on November 3.
