Cricklewood site subject of public meeting on Thursday

A PUBLIC meeting will discuss the future of Hendon Football Club's former Claremont Road ground.

A meeting on Thursday has been called by the Golders Green Residents' Association, after it was discovered building on the site could still go ahead.

Barnet Council gave outline planning permission more than five years ago, but a loophole allows the plans to remain valid as owners Montclare have a detailed application from two years ago that is still unresolved.

Campaigner Gordon Kerr warned building on the Cricklewood site, which lies next to Clitterhouse playing fields in the middle of the new Brent Cross regeneration area, could set a “dangerous precedent”.

He said: “"As a campaigning group, all we seek to achieve is for Barnet Council to respect the laws of the land."

The meeting will take place in Carey Hall, Claremont Road, on Thursday, November 26, from 7.30pm.
