Parking charges will be dropped on Bank Holiday after Barnet Council admits administrative error

PARKING bosses have cleared up the confusion around restrictions that will be in place over the festive period.

A statement released earlier by Barnet Council claimed Boxing Day and December 28 would not be considered public holidays and parking wardens would operate on both days.

It said despite libraries closing over that period, staff would be treating December 26 as “a normal Saturday for parking enforcement” adding they will also charge “as normal” on December 28.

But this was later retracted after is was revealed an administrative error had occurred.

In fact, there will be no charge in pay and display and permit holders parking places on December 28.

However, the revised statement added: “Civil enforcement officers will be working, enforcing other restrictions such as yellow lines, obstructions etc.”

Saturday, December 26, will still be considered “a normal day” and parking restriction will apply.

Free parking at all pay and display facilities will still be available after 3pm, as part of the council's free after three initiative, which runs until January 3.
