MOVIE star Clive Owen will visit the borough next week to support a charity which helps bereaved children.

Totteridge-based charity Grief Encounter aids children and their families after they suffer the death of a parent or sibling, with counselling and by teaching them and adults methods of coping with their grief.

The charity is holding a special screening of The Boys are Back, a film in which Mr Owen stars as the lead, in East Finchley on Tuesday.

In the film, Mr Owen plays a father whose wife dies and he is suddenly left to raise his two children by himself.

The ill-prepared Joe, who is dealing with his own loss, is confronted with the daily challenges of parenthood while coping with his young son Artie's expressions of grief.

They soon are joined by Harry, Joe's teenage son from his first marriage, who brings his own personal issues into the mix.

Without a set of rules on how to move forward, the three males decide its best to leave the conventional rules and responsibilities of the grown-up world behind and lead a life based on the mantra 'just say yes.' When things go terribly awry, Joe is forced to step up and behave like a parent, but must figure out how to do so without completely abandoning the joy and exuberance shared in their more child-like world.

Grief Encounter's director Shelley Gilbert, said: "I was bowled over by the film when I saw it last week and have been so inspired that we are lucky enough to be able to run a private screening thanks to Disney.

“The message of the film is so close to the messages we try and get across at Grief Encounter that we wanted to invite our supporters and families to view this wonderful film. It shows first hand just how seriously tough it is for a parent who has lost their partner to deal with their own grief as well as the daily challenges of parenthood while coping with their young children's grief ."

After the screening, Mr Owen will also answer questions from the audience.

The film is on at the The Phoenix Cinema, 52 High Road, East Finchley and starts at 8.30pm. Tickets are £10 each and, according to the charity are selling fast.
