RESIDENTS demanding better compensation after being left without gas over Christmas are holding a public meeting.
Fed-up customers have asked representatives of gas supplier National Grid and water supplier Veolia to attend the meeting on Wednesday.
They are not impressed with the level of compensation offered for their lack of heating and hot water in December.
More than 1,000 homes in East Barnet were affected after a burst water main led to water flooding gas pipes in the area in the week before Christmas.
National Grid engineers were drafted in from across the country to pump out the water and fix the problem.
But progress was slow and some residents had their Christmas Days ruined. Others were not online before New Year's Eve.
National Grid has offered residents £30 a day for every 24 hours they were without gas, with two special payments of £100 for Christmas and Boxing Days.
But many say that is not enough.
The meeting is due to take place on February 10 at the New Barnet Community Centre, 48 - 50 Victoria Road, New Barnet, at 7.30pm.
