A WOMAN who told police a precious engraved ring handed down to her from a grandfather who survived the Holocaust had been stolen has found the ring – at home.
Hertfordshire Constabulary issued an appeal yesterday for information into the theft or selling on of the ring, after the woman, who lives in Borehamwood, said it had been snatched from the Admiral Byng pub in Darkes Lane, Potters Bar last week.
The gold ring was engraved with two names and the owner thought it was inside her bag at the time.
A police spokeswoman said she was very pleased the heirloom had been found but in these cases members of the public should inform officers straight away, to avoid wasting police time.
