A PRIMARY school in Potters Bar was rewarded for going the extra mile to make their school more environmentally-friendly this week.
Pope Paul RC Primary School, in Baker Street, was one of 29 schools rewarded at Hertfordshire County Council's annual School Travel Awards, held in Welwyn Garden City.
The school received a Gold School Travel plaque, which demonstrates at least three years commitment to sustainable travel by putting into place measures such as a walking bus scheme or installing cycle racks.
Stuart Pile, the council’s executive member for highways and transport, said: "There's an incredible amount of innovative work taking place in Hertfordshire's schools to promote sustainable travel.
"This award evening is an opportunity to thank everyone for their efforts and highlight some of the success stories which other schools might want to emulate."
