MORE civil servants are expected to stage strikes outside their workplaces across Barnet today in protest at the ending of a redundancy scheme.

It is the third day of action by members of the PCS union and has been arranged to coincide with the Budget, which is due to be unveiled at midday.

Members of the Customs branch in Regents Park Road, Finchley and staff at Job Centres across the borough are expected to join in the walkouts and form picket lines.

They are angry at the government's decision to change their redundancy procedures, which will make it easier to sack civil servants in the future.
