A Portuguese florist was dragged alongside a speeding car after a brutal road rage incident which has left her terrified of driving.

Dulce Gomes, 37, of Prayle Grove, Cricklewood, lost her hearing and was left with horrific facial injuries after she was attacked near the Hanger Lane gyratory, Ealing, at 3.30pm on Saturday.

Ms Gomes claims she was slapped, then dragged alongside a moving vehicle after simply beeping another driver.

"To tell the truth, I am scared of driving again. Very scared. I don't understand why somebody would treat another person this way. Nobody deserves to be treated like that," said Ms Gomes.

"I was coming off the junction at Hanger Lane when a car cut in front of me. I beeped my horn and the car suddenly pulled up. A man got out and started swearing at me.

"As he was saying this to me, another car had gone into the back of mine as it was a sudden stop," said Ms Gomes. "I told him not to speak me that way and not to cut in, and then he slapped my face.

"Three Irish men walking by came along and held him back, with one of them also trying to keep me away as well. The driver got back in his car, but I went after him.

"I told him not to go as the police were coming, but he grabbed my arm and took me with him."

Ms Gomes was released after travelling a short distance, but the speed of the car threw her against the ground. She was left unconscious with severe bruising and had to be given oxygen before being rushed by ambulance to Central Middlesex Hospital.

"I am so confused by what happened, and don't feel safe," said Ms Gomes.

Ealing police are investigating the incident, but are yet to make an arrest.

"Police are investigating a claim of ABH against a female. Inquiries are continuing," a police spokesperson said.
