Skills to improve creativity

9:39am Monday 16th January 2006

Golders Green-based company JBE Communications Ltd is appealing to creative people and small businesses who want to take part in a new and innovative IT Business project.

The programme, funded by the Learning and Skills Council London North (LSCLN), is aimed at small businesses in the creative/cultural' sector.

These include those people working in crafts, interior design, film and video production, performing arts, visual arts, photography and writing.

Project manager Aviva Klien explained: "There are a wide range of IT courses available, such as Photoshop, Publisher, Quark Express, Flash MX and Front Page.

"We are looking for committed trainees who are eager to learn and progress, as well as supportive employers keen for their staff to improve their skill-based knowledge."

Ms Klein added: "Owing to the popularity of the funded training, demand is high, and we have a limited number of places available.

"Thanks to the Unity Charitable Trust, we can also support those trainees with childcare or mobility issues, and who need the loan of a laptop."

Jonathan Endfield, director of JBE Communications Ltd, said, "This innovative project is supported by the LSCLN, and our partners NW London Training and the Unity Charitable Trust.

"Our message is that we want the creative/cultural sector to be taken more seriously.

"Many creative businesses don't want to grow beyond a certain level as they are concerned that they can begin to lose their creative flair.

"We believe, however, that an early marriage between business skills and creativity can help them to flourish."
