‘We can go further still’

Wood manager Steve Cook says there is no reason why his team cannot continue their incredible cup run when they take on Worksop Town in the FA Trophy quarter-finals later this month.

The Conference North side beat runaway Conference leaders Accrington Stanley 4-2 on penalties on Tuesday night after their cup replay ended 1-1 after extra time.

Cook said: "On paper it is a more winnable tie than Accrington Stanley but they are still two leagues above us and they have just knocked the best non-league side out of the cup."

Boreham Wood are the lowliest team left in the competition and 20-1 outsiders to lift the trophy. They are now just one win away from a lucrative two-leg semi-final.

Their opponents, a 12-1 shot for the cup, currently lie in 17th position in the league. Ronnie Glavin's men reached the FA Trophy quarter-final in 1998/99 but were knocked out by Forest Green Rovers.

Wood chairman Danny Hunter described Saturday's win against Crawley in round three as "the best feeling I've had in football", and added that the story was not over yet.

"We will got to Worksop to represent the town and I'm sure the supporters will make themselves heard," he said. "The support has been incredible."

u The club has booked four supporters' coaches for the trip to Worksop's Babbage Way Stadium in Nottinghamshire on Saturday, February 25.

Fans are being urged to call the club and book early as there will be limited number of spaces available. For more information or to book a coach place, call 020 8953 5097.
