Jail for former addict

FORMER heroin addict Nasser Hakim was jailed for 15 months after a judge described him as 'dishonest and manipulative'.

Hakim, 25, of Longland Way, High Wycombe, was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday for aggravated vehicle taking.

He admitted the charge at an earlier adjourned hearing when he also pleaded guilty to three theft offences between April and May last year at High Wycombe. A further 34 offences were taken into consideration.

Hakim was arrested for aggravated vehicle taking on June 3 last year when he unlawfully took an Austin Metro car and drove it dangerously along The Pastures, West Wycombe Road, Desborough Avenue and Baker Street, all High Wycombe. He then crashed into a car on the A40 Oxford Road, High Wycombe, injuring two women occupants.

Judge Daniel Rodwell QC, said: "I regard you as a dishonest and manipulative person. It is quite clear you are prepared to take a different course of action in your life when you have sentence pending, to that which you do when you have no sentence hanging over you."

He jailed Hakim for 15 months for aggravated vehicle taking and nine months concurrent on each of the theft offences. He was also disqualified from driving for three years.
