A TEENAGER has been jailed for life for the murder of the son of a former Somali Prime Minister in Wealdstone.

Hassan Kul Hawadleh, 19, of West Hendon, was stabbed to death on the forecourt of the Total Garage in High Road, following a week-long escalation of violence in Wealdstone.

Abdul Khan, 19, of Enderley Road, Wealdstone, was sentenced to life in prison at the Old Bailey, and was told he must serve at least 22 years behind bars.

Khan also admitted violent disorder and grievous bodily harm after stabbing Hassan's friend Abdiwahab Guiled in the buttocks during the violent scenes on February 19 last year.

But he was cleared of the attempted murder of Mr Guiled.

Judge Paul Worsley described Khan's actions as “acts of revenge” for fights earlier in the week, in which he had suffered facial injuries and a broken nose.

He told Khan: “Early in the evening of the fatal night, one hour before Kul met his death, you and three others had sought out a young man that had been involved in the one-to-one fight.

“Unacceptable as that attack was, the matter should have ended there.

“But you armed yourself with a knife and with three others armed with sticks and chains, you sought out the friends of the young man that you had attacked.”

Describing the attack on Mr Guiled, he added: “He was knocked to the ground and kicked, and when at your mercy, you stabbed him deep in the buttock severing a nerve.

“Not satisfied with that, within moments you carried out an attack on his friend who had gone to help him.

“That friend was unarmed. He offered you no violence, but you stabbed him in the shoulder. You then stabbed him through the heart with such force that it scored a bone.

“You have shown no flicker of remorse. The man who died had everything to live for. He did not deserve to die as he did at your hands on that garage forecourt.”

The court heard Khan fled to France and then Germany after the murder, before being apprehended and brought back to Britain to stand trial.
