Nine residents from Barnet given awards on Queen's Birthday Honours list

A MEMBER of the infamous Bunbury Cricket Club is amongst nine people from Barnet borough named on the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Mill Hill resident Dr David English, a former president of RSO Records, to which Eric Clapton and the Bee Gees were signed, has been given a CBE for his services to cricket and charity.

A leading member of the touring Bunbury side he boasts Sir Ian Botham and Viv Richards among his friends and is also a patron of the Make a Wish Foundation.

Cricklewood resident Dr Husna Ahmad is awarded an OBE for her work with disadvantaged people with the Faith Regeneration Foundation.

A CBE goes to Hampstead Garden Suburb resident Professor David Latchman, a Master of Birkbeck College for services to Higher Education.

Six residents are awarded MBEs on the list, including Barnet residents Derek Pollock, for charitable services, Alison Yearley, a personal secretary in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport ant the Reverend Vernon Lewis, for his work with the community in the borough and Sri Lanka.

David Lewis, the chairman of governors at Whitefield School, Cricklewood, also lands an MBE along with Hendon resident Benjamin Perl, for his services to Jewish education.

Edwin Sawacha, of Cricklewood, is given an MBE for his work in social housing in north west London.
