Brunswick Park community hub plans scrapped as Department for Education cuts funding for scheme

PLANS for a new “community hub” in East Barnet have been scrapped after funding for an education centre there was withdrawn at the last minute.

Plans for the new combined health centre, library and nursery school to be built in Brunswick Park were due to be approved by councillors at a meeting tomorrow night.

However, the joint scheme between Barnet Council and NHS Barnet and was reliant on central government grants has now had to be shelved after funding cuts.

Plans had already been fast tracked by councillors for fear of losing the cash as the government announces austerity cutbacks.

Why does the first sentence say it is in East Barnet? The second sentence gives the location correctly as Brunswick Park. How could it be in two places at once?

The reason for the discrepancy, Lucy Furr, is because this newpaper frequently does not check its geographical facts. Which to be honest is lazy journalism. I have lost count of the number of times I have posted on this site regarding such errors, all of which are very easily verified.
