PLANS for a new “community hub” in East Barnet have been scrapped after funding for an education centre there was withdrawn at the last minute.
Plans for the new combined health centre, library and nursery school to be built in Brunswick Park were due to be approved by councillors at a meeting tomorrow night.
However, the joint scheme between Barnet Council and NHS Barnet and was reliant on central government grants has now had to be shelved after funding cuts.
Plans had already been fast tracked by councillors for fear of losing the cash as the government announces austerity cutbacks.
