AN Indian restaurant has been chosen to represent Enfield Southgate in the annual Tiffin Cup.

MP David Burrowes picked Dipali Restaurant, in Alderman's Hill, after it received the most nominations from customers.

The restaurant was opened in 1972 by Muzahid Ali Choudhury, who wanted to provide top quality Indian cuisine from across the sub-continent.

Legend has it that one businessman enjoyed the food so much he ordered a £700 meal for 20 people to take home to Moscow with him.

The Tiffin Cup 2010 is a national competition designed to find the best South Asian eatery in the country.

Dozens of restaurants across England and Wales enter each year in the hope of winning the prestigious prize.

The contest, which began in 2006, culminates in a "cook-off" at the House of Commons, Westminster, for all shortlisted restaurants.
