Late finish of engineering work at Highgate on the Northern Line High Barnet branch causes Tube service suspension between Finchley Central and Archway

THE Tube has been part suspended on a section of the Northern Line through the borough this morning.

Transport for London (TfL) has blamed the late finish of engineering work at Highgate for the suspension of services between Finchley Central and Archway.

The problems were on-going throughout the morning rush hour, causing mass disruption for thousands of commuters travelling on the High Barnet branch.

People using the service from High Barnet, Totteridge and Whetstone, Woodside Park, West Finchley and Mill Hill East, were required to find alternative routes as trains were not going south past Finchley Central.

The line was also closed between Camden Town and Kennington via Charing Cross. Delays were being reported on the whole line for most of the morning.

Travel reports on TfL's website said tickets were being accepted on local buses and First Capital Connect trains.

No mention of the faulty engineering train that ran down the track from Archway to Warren Street unmanned. That's why the line was shut.
