Edgware model Suraj Unalkat hoping to win Mr England award

A PART-TIME model from Edgware is asking for public support in his bid to win the title of Mr England 2010.

Suraj Unalkat, 24, has already been given the title of Mr North London after making it into the final 12 of the prestigious competition.

Now the Stonegrove Lane resident is looking for public votes to be fast-tracked into the last five on September 1 at the finals in Birmingham.

The former Mill Hill county High School pupil has been modelling in his spare time for the last two years, whilst working on the graduate scheme for a bank after graduating from University.

He told the Times Series: “It would just be great to win, it would get me into the mainstream.

“I already do things for charity, last year I did a sponsored parachute jump, so I would definitely use it to publicise charities and raise funds for them.

“I think it would also be a boost for the community here as well.”

Mr Unalkat entered the competition after being encouraged to by a friend, and will now be one of the final 12 strutting his stuff in front of the judges alongside the contestants for Miss England.

He has previously modelled at the clothes Show Live and on a Channel 4 fashion show.

He added: “I was handpicked by the office after an initial public vote where I finished in the top five, so they must think I have something.

“At the finals we do the same as the women, there are catwalk rounds with gym wear, black tie and there's also a cowboy themed round as well which will be interesting.”
