POLICE are appealing for information after a device to scam cash point users was found in Potters Bar.
A vigilant woman alerted police on Saturday afternoon, after she spotted something suspicious attached to a HSBC machine, in Darkes Lane.
Officers removed a skimming device, which is designed to copy data from the magnetic strip of a credit or debit card and transfer it onto another.
PC Paul Francis said: “I would urge people to contact police if they saw anyone acting suspiciously around the cash machine or indeed any other ATMs in the area.
“Also if anyone has had their card retained by that machine dishonestly and not reported it should contact police.”
Anyone with information should call the police via the non-emergency number on 0845 33 00 222.
