PRANKSTERS boggled the minds of those organising a psychic event in North Finchley by placing an ironic joke on an advertising banner.

The comic masterminds temporarily defaced a sign outside The Elephant Inn, in Ballards Lane, displaying the details of a mystic event being held tonight.

Next to the words “Psychic Fayre Here”, a laminated A4 sheet of paper was stuck on reading “Due to unforeseen circumstances this event has been postponed”.

But organisers Hartley Promotions, who host psychic events across north London and surrounding counties, seemed confused to be asked if the evening had been cancelled, and were adamant it would be going ahead as planned.

They said at no point the schedule been changed, and insisted anyone wanting to take part could still turn up to the pub between 6pm and 10.30pm.

Managers at the premises said they had no idea where the notice on the banner had come from.

Entry to the Fayre is £3 on the door, with readings starting at £20. Money raised will go to children's charities across the UK.
