A MOTHER is warning parents to be on the look out for callous thieves after her £200 pram was stolen from outside her family home in Barnet.

The woman, who did not want to be named, was visiting her mother and father yesterday, in The Drive, when the black baby pram was taken in broad day light.

She said the theft must have taken place between 1.30pm and 3.40pm when the family were having lunch, and admitted she was “gutted” to find it missing.

She said: “I just want to protect other parents and warn them there are people out there prepared to steal anything.

“I want people to be aware of what they leave outside. It's quite sad people will take a child's pushchair.

“You just don't expect something like this. How low can someone get to take it? You can buy one for £20 if you are that desperate.”

The mother said she drove round the area, but was not able to trace her two-year-old son's pram.

Police confirmed they have received a report about the theft, and are looking into the case.

A statement said there were not immediate leads, and officers had not yet located any witnesses, CCTV or forensics.

Anyone who may have been approached to buy a black pram, with green liner, or who may have been in the area and witnessed the theft, should call Barnet police on 0300 123 1212 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
