A JEWISH charity which helps people with learning disabilities has been praised by Education Minister Michael Gove for “teaching us all the meaning of care”.

Kisharon celebrated 35-years of serving the community with a gala dinner with 650 guests at the Hilton in Park Lane on Sunday, including several MPs and former Mayor of Barnet Councillor Anthoby Finn.

Chairman Philip Goldberg paid tribute to guest of honour Leo Noe, who has served the charity for 20 years, and “the inimitable way he performs his numerous charitable work”.

Giving a special address Mr Gove paid tribute to the work of the charity saying: “Every minute of every day throughout someone’s life Kisharon is there.”

The event raised more than £500,000 for the charity, which will help cushion cuts to its grant from Barnet Council.

Chief executive Dr Beverley Jacobson said: “Our frontline staff make Kisharon the special place that it is. This was clearly evident throughout the night and I look forward to passing on these warm messages of praise to our wonderful team.”
