SHOT-SHY Leyton Pennant slipped back into trouble at the foot of the Ryman League first division after defeat at the hands of the bottom side Berkamstead Town.
Pennant's regular strikeforce of Billy Read, Adrian Allen and Billy Cove were all absent and goals always looked hard to come by for the Lilywhites.
Robbie Drake had two point-blank shots saved in the first half but Berkamstead began to control things soon after the break.
The first goal arrived when the Pennant defence failed to deal with a deep cross and the ball was sent back into the danger area before being smashed past Shaun O'Neill from close range.
Within a minute, it was 2-0, when another cross wasn't cleared and a close-range header left O'Neill helpless.
Cove, Read and Allen all return for tonight's vital league game against Staines Town at Wadham Lodge, kicking off at 7.45pm.
LEYTON PENNANT: O'Neill, Wood, Salmon, Perkins, Marsh, Dixon, Geraghty, Balfour, Silk, Drake, Richefond (sub: Stewart).
