A PENSIONER has suffered serious injuries after he fell from his bicycle yesterday evening.

The 69-year-old from Borehamwood is believed to have badly injured his head during the accident in Rowley Lane at around 4.50pm.

Three ambulances were called and a team of paramedics treated the man near to the junction of Studio Way.

After stabilising the cyclist’s condition, he was eventually airlifted by helicopter to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

As of 7.40am this morning, police said the man was in a critical but stable condition.

Officers, who were forced to close nearby roads as paramedics worked, said no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
