PUPILS at a school in Southgate planted snowdrop bulbs as a tribute to children who lost their lives in the Holocaust.

Brunswick Park Primary School in Osidge Lane took part in the Snowdrop Project with the help of the Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Lisa Rutter today.

The Mayor said: “As in previous years this project serves as a powerful reminder of the scale of the Holocaust. It also remains extremely important that we continue to educate our younger generation about the events, and that we remember those who so tragically lost their lives."

The project has been set up by Barnet Council and its aim is to plant a snowdrop in memory of the 1.5 million children who died in the Holocaust, as well as highlight the history of the Holocaust to Barnet's youngsters.

This year 2,000 bulbs have been planted in the borough, taking the total number to 33,000.
