Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer has officially launched new teaching facilities at a charity centre in East Finchley.

Mr Freer met staff, students and patients when he opened the new learning zone at the Bobath Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy, in East End Road, on Friday.

The charity, which provides treatment of cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions, raised £12,000 to improve teaching facilities for students who take courses in physiotherapy, occupational and speech and language therapy.

During his visit, Bobath staff raised concerns about the effects of the NHS reorganisation and a lack of funds for treatment services.

Jayne Pearce, Bobath director, said: “We are pleased Mr Freer took onboard our concerns. Children’s brains develop rapidly in their early years, so it is critical they receive specialist treatment as soon as possible. Delays only put a child’s future independence and health in jeopardy.”
