It's snow joke, but an eight feet tall polar bear has been spotted in Hendon.
Ten residents in Queens Gardens used recycling bins and shovels to collect heaps of snow on Sunday to build the unusual snow sculpture.
Snow sculptures have become quite a tradition in the quiet cul de sac, and past creations include a ten feet tall Mexican snowman complete with sombrero.
The polar bear was the brain-child of the Cootes family who live in the road, and whose toy polar bear was used as a model.
Another resident Debbie Jacob said: "We weren't too cold as it was quite hard work, so it was also good exercise.
"We decided it should be a polar bear but it started to look more like a pig."
The polar bear does not yet have a name, but suggestions are welcome as he will probably be around for a few more days with temperatures set to stay near freezing.
