An Edgware boutique is celebrating its 40th anniversary by holding a charity fashion show with a plethora of celebrity guests.

Harpers, in The Promenade, was opened by Karol Solomons 40 years ago.

To mark the occasion Ms Solomons, 74, is holding a fashion show to raise money for The Disability Foundation and Breast Cancer Campaign.

Lucy Nineberg, daughter of Ms Solomons, said: “It is a wonderful achievement in this day and age for a business to survive for 40 years.

“We have a very loyal clientele and we knew they would want to celebrate with us.

“We felt that this would be an amazing way of raising money for two fantastic charities.”

Guests at the event, which is being held in Finchley on March 22, will include television presenter Gloria Hunniford and actress Barbara Windsor, who is a loyal customer of the multi-brand boutique.

Ms Nineberg, 45, of Elstree, said: “Some of our customers came when they were girls and now bring their granddaughters – we have literally dressed generations.

“We have dressed people for some of the most memorable events in their lives.”

Models at the show, who will wear clothes stocked by Harpers, include a range of customers and professionals; Alex Best, Monica Sharp and Liz Cundy will be just a few of the women strutting their stuff on the catwalk.

The models at the event, which is a lunch for 250 guests, will have their hair done by celebrity hairdresser, Trevor Sorbie.

Ms Nineberg, who works in Harpers, said: “The models are thrilled to be invited and to help these fantastic charities.”

Tickets are for sale for £100 each and all of the proceeds will go to the charities.

There will also be a raffle with prizes including a weekend in the South of France and a diamond necklace.

Ms Nineberg said: “My mother has worked tirelessly for 40 years creating a haven of fashion in an area which is perhaps not known for its fashion.

“She has achieved so much through pure hard work, determination and the eye for a good buy.”
