A new organisation providing support to hundreds of adults with disabilities was launched today.

Your Choice Barnet, an adult social care organisation, was launched at Rosa Morison, Gloucester Road.

There were speeches from the chairman of Your Choice Barnet, Deep Sagar and Cllr Sachin Rajput, cabinet member for adult social care and health.

This was followed by an official cake cutting by the Mayor of Barnet Councillor Lisa Rutter, and a service user.

Your Choice Barnet, which employs more than 200 staff who have transferred from Barnet Council, was created as part of a new wider council-owned organisation called The Barnet Group.

Your Choice Barnet offers people with disabilities support to enable them to live independently, and to exercise choice over the care they receive.

Your Choice Barnet has a sister organisation, Barnet Homes, which has been managing 15,000 council properties on behalf of Barnet Council since 2004.

Barnet Homes’ chief executive, Tracey Lees, has become chief executive of The Barnet Group.

She said: “We’re very excited about the launch of Your Choice Barnet. We want to ensure we maintain and build on these high quality services while offering people the support they want in an ever more flexible way.”
